Waistcoat Vest (Black)

Measured for the vest as instructed and submitted all required measurements. Vest is way too small. Will be returning it. Quality is fine otherwise and the speed of delivery was very good. Unfortunately, this does not help as the vest in no way fits.

I ordered my vest last week on very short notice. Due to the death of a family member I would be traveling out of state to play their memorial and needed a vest quickly. I contacted the fine folks at J. Higgins and they helped me get the size and made sure I received it on time. The best is of great quality and the perfect weight of wool. The buttons are a tad sharp around the edges and corners, but it fits well and looks absolutely great. I like have a solid wool vest as I intended to wear this without a jacket and do not care for the adjustable back vests. I am 5'9, 215 lbs and the 48L was perfect. I highly recommend this vest to anyone considering it.

I normally wear a 34 small vest and I am 5’3. I had to get a size 40 to work and had alteration made. (John's reply: I'm sorry for the situation. This was submitted without a name, which is fine, so judging by the size, I'm wondering if you are a woman. Our vests are definitely mens vests. Women do buy them, and sometimes have to get some alterations done on them. We also strongly recommend actual measurements in lieu of "sizes" as there really isn't any standardization in the clothing industry for "sizes").

Made the measurements and ordered based on measurements and comments that they run a little small. It fit perfect. Thanks again J Higgins!

Runs small, get a size or two larger

The vest is very nice and well made. The sizing however is not accurate and I was advised, after the first one couldn't even button, that it was more a trial and error situation. The measurement chart is not even close. I am therefore required to return the vest for replacement at my cost.

I got this vest and it was to small so I got it exchanged for a bigger one. The material has a high quality feel to it. Make sure you follow their advice and order a size larger than you normally do.

This vest is very well made, inside and out. It is made according to the measurements you give them, and so you can't go wrong!

I purchased this vest after following the sizing guide instructions ("runs small"). I am 5'3", 104 pounds, 32X28X38, so I am petite and thin. According to the guide, my size would be a 32S, so I ordered a 36S. It was fine across the bust, but you couldn't even button the last 3 buttons across the hip area. I called and was told (1) I would have to pay for return shipping; and (2) the customer service rep told me to order a size 40S. So, I unhappily paid the return ship charges and got a size 40S. The vest was fine across the hips but way, way too big across the bust, gapping at both arm holds and sagging across the chest. Now, I have to pay, AGAIN, for return shipping even though I think this is the fault of the company. This product is not made for a woman's figure at all. Look elsewhere! (John's reply. That is correct. We have only men's vest patterns. We attempt to help women with these, but we sell these as men's sizes. Unfortunately we do not have women's vest sizes).

This is my second vest from these fine folks. They made a red one for me a few years ago. This black one is equally well made. Buy with confidence!

I had a large order and was very surprised with the speed of delivery. I was chunkier than I had anticipated and had to make a return for the size larger. It was a very easy and super smooth process. I was very impressed and happy with the J. Higgins crew.
