Nice beginner reed
This is a perfectly fine read for a beginner, in fact many people, with a lot more experience than I have, seem to think it sets the standard. I can only say that while it is one of the reeds I now and then swap out to practice with, I'm slightly more partial to my Ezeedrone and Walsh PC reeds. So, for me, if those two were 5, this would even be above 4 at 4.8 Still, for playability and amount of breath control that it takes, I put this reed in the same class as Ezeedrone, Walsh and G1. YMMV. My PC is the Dunbar Millennium 2000 AKA Dunbar long.

Warnock Plastic Chanter Reed
I'm very happy with my new Warnock plastic chanter reeds. They work very well and I am pleased with the sound. Thank you, J. Higgins and Company for a great product and.superb customer service. Great communication and my reeds were shipped quickly.

A great reed in the key of b flat
Really love this reed as it is in the traditional key of the highland pipe and so it opens up alot of music for me to play. I also appreciate the low price of this reed and I believe that the quality gives you more then the price listed. It is of a dark timbre and has a good ammount of volume and will fill a room easily.

well made
The reed is well made and sturdy which is great if you're a beginner and unaccustomed to handling reeds while dissembling the chanter. My only hesitation with a five star rating is that it does sound like a muted duck caller. The tone is lower than expected. Good for low volume practicing! FYI I have the J Higgins practice chanter with this reed.

Red Blade Reed Diappointment
I selected this reed to replace an existing one with shorter blade in the style of a Walsh reed. I have a Dunbar Plastic chanter and I chose the Warnock reed because it has longer blades thinking it would perform better but I am not happy with my choice. The volume is low and the tone is not good. It was my choice from an online order. (John's reply: Hi Charlie, If it doesn't meet with your satisfaction, you may certainly return it for a refund or to exchange for another reed. We have a white blade reed with a shorter blade made by Dougie Murray that you might like.)
