    John is very accommodating

Posted by Unknown on 16th Nov 2020

After some emailing about doublet sizes, John sent me a 40R. I received it in a timely manner. However, I felt it was too short and the shoulders a little too big. John told me to send it back and that he would send a different doublet. I requested a 38L, which is the same size as my Argile jacket. He told me he didn't have any in stock and that he'd have to make one. Well, being 2020, I really didn't have anywhere to wear it. It arrived today, and I am entirely pleased with the fit! Being a female Drum Major, I appreciate the attention to detail.

Size not accurate compared to suits

2nd doublet that I ordered. Quality of good. I’ve had my first doublet for about 8 years. Figured it was time to upsize, I wear a size 48R in suit but need to order a size 54-if only the sizing was comparable to a regular suit. (John's reply: Our sizing will never match mainstream suit sizing, because they keep changing their sizes and continue to put smaller size tags on bigger sizes. It's called vanity sizing. We cannot do that because we have customers and bands who have ordered for almost 4 decades, and if we started changing our sizes, chaos would result. John).
