Typically you tie these so the drones are 5 to 6" apart, but a little helpful tip is to put the fasteners on loosely and experiment with slightly different lengths until you find the best feel for your body type. Then, cinch up the fasteners (found in this section of our website) and trim the excess tail.

I got these with my pipes instead of the standard "silk" ones, and I definitely prefer these. They are stiffer than the silk, so they don't wrap around my outer tenor when I strike in, and the the nice old-school look is great. I recommend these along with J Higgins and they're priceless costumer service and quality.
