A delightful film mostly assembled from stills, but occasionally (and magically) breaking into snatches of movie. It catches the celebrations of the Up Helly (Aa) festival held on the island of Shetland in January every year - a fire festival lasting all night when a replica Viking boat is burned. Great music from the local brass band too. UK Television, Channel 4, FourDocs Editor wrote about Up Helly Aa

This DVD is the first in a series of four, based around the Shetland seasons - Winter, Voar, Simmer and Hairst.

This DVD consists of three short films made up of stills and film clips accompanied by beautiful traditional Shetland music.

We have recorded the music in-house (in croft really!) with the help of Jim Leask, a brilliant traditional Shetland fiddle player.
